About The Café
Le Bon Café has been a popular meeting place on Capitol Hill for residents, tourists and Congressional staffers alike for over two decades. Its blue and white striped awning, marble top tables, period French posters and cozy atmosphere evoke the feel of Paris as you enter the door.
The concept is simple: provide our customers with a warm and friendly neighborhood gathering place, somewhere they can stop on their way to work to get a coffee to go or linger over a bowl of café au lait and a croissant while reading the morning paper. A place where they can get a quick healthy lunch to take back to the office or enjoy with friends at one of the tables on the outdoor terrace. Le Bon is also a terrific option for your office catering needs including boxed lunches and platters.
Owner Sandra McCluskey opened Le Bon Café over twenty years ago. Prior to Le Bon Café, Sandra worked as a Capitol Hill event planner and longed to fill the void on the Hill for a neighborhood café experience she had loved so much as a student in Paris and during her many trips to France. After leaving her job on Capitol Hill, Sandra worked at Le Bellecour, a Michelin-star restaurant in Paris, to learn first-hand how a French kitchen operated. She also attended classes at La Varenne Culinary School and spent hours visiting and researching French café life before returning to Washington D.C. to open Le Bon Café.
She recently had the opportunity to live her dream by residing in Paris for four years. She traveled, cooked, shopped the markets and ate her way through every arrondisement and is thrilled to share her passion with customers and friends.
